FAQ
Straight answers about carpet cleaning
Pricing, timing, safety and the things that are genuinely hard to get out. If yours is not covered here, calling gets you an answer in about a minute.
01
Booking and estimates
How do I get an estimate?
Call 208.660.1009 and talk to Darrin, or send the estimate form on the contact page. Estimates are free and given upfront, so you know the number before any work is scheduled.
How is carpet cleaning priced?
By the room, not by the square foot. Room-based pricing means the figure you are quoted does not move once someone has walked through your house with a tape measure. There are no hidden charges added afterwards.
What if I am not happy with the result?
Everclean cleans one room first. If you are not happy with it, you can cancel the job and you will not pay for the room that was cleaned. There is also a two-day follow-up call on carpet jobs to get your final approval on the work.
Who actually shows up?
Darrin. Everclean is owner-operated, so the person who gives you the estimate is the person who does the cleaning. There is no dispatcher and no rotating crew.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Everclean is fully licensed and insured.
02
The cleaning itself
What cleaning method do you use?
Truck-mounted hot-water extraction, usually called steam cleaning. High-temperature water and a pre-treatment break the bond between soil and fiber, and the vacuum pulls it back out of the carpet. It finishes with an all-fiber rinse that clears the cleaning residue so nothing sticky is left to attract dirt.
Are the products safe for children and pets?
The cleaners Everclean uses are high quality, safe, non-toxic and EPA certified, and they are pet friendly and family friendly. The high-temperature rinse is part of what makes the result residue-free.
How often should carpets be cleaned?
Everclean recommends once every 12–18 months for homes without pets or children, and once every 6–12 months for homes with pets and children.
How often should upholstery be cleaned?
Every 12–24 months. Leaving it longer allows soil and body oils to degrade and discolor the fibers, which is the point at which cleaning stops fully reversing the damage.
How long will the carpet take to dry?
It depends on the carpet type, the humidity and how much air is moving through the room. Running fans or the furnace fan speeds it up considerably. Ask Darrin what to expect for your carpet during the pre-cleaning walkthrough.
Do you offer stain protection?
Yes. A stain repellant can be applied to freshly cleaned carpet, and commercial-grade Scotchgard™ is available for high-traffic areas such as hallways, offices, waiting rooms, hotels and restaurants. It creates an invisible barrier against soils and spills.
Do I need to move my furniture?
Clearing small items, breakables and anything sitting on the floor helps a lot. Discuss the larger pieces during the walkthrough so expectations are clear before the work starts.
03
Stains, pets and odor
Can you get pet stains and odor out?
Pet stain treatment and odor removal are both standard parts of Everclean's service, and pet spots get special attention during the pre-inspection and pre-treatment steps. How complete the result is depends on how far the contamination has travelled and how long it has been in place — that is assessed on site before the work begins, and you will be told honestly what to expect.
Will every stain come out?
No, and anyone who promises otherwise before looking at the carpet has not looked at the carpet. Some stains have removed the dye from the fiber, and some damage is wear rather than soil. The pre-cleaning inspection exists so problem areas are identified and discussed before the work starts, not after.
There is a smell but I cannot find the source.
That is common with pet accidents, and the usual answer is that the source is below the surface — in the carpet backing, the pad or the rug pad. A surface clean removes the visible mark and leaves the source, which is why the odor comes back on the next warm day. Point out where you smell it during the walkthrough.
What are the dark lines along my baseboards?
Filtration soiling. Air being drawn through the edge of the carpet deposits fine airborne soot and dust in the fibers over years. It is very common in older homes on the Spokane South Hill and in downtown Coeur d’Alene. It needs to be worked specifically rather than passed over with the rest of the room.
